Props and More Props!

I've gotten some fun feedback regarding the head piece for a recent session, and though I'd share a little about it, and how you too, can make your little Princess one!

Lately, with all of these concept shoots in my head, props are necessary.  However, when I get to styling a session, sometimes, I just can't stop, and right now, I'd reallyyy like to keep my props at a minimal in order to focus on the subject and their impact, alone.

This session in particular was designed around a crown, some hanging fabric, and a tutu.  However, when I finally sat down to compile a list of materials needed, and then put together the color palette, it turned into something completely different. (i love when this happens!)

My final inspiration:

This session was nature inspired, and I wanted it to be as natural as possible beginning with the colors, the props, and then the hair (i have an obsession with hair).

Instead of a crown, I decided to try and DIY a headpiece.
(i'm just learning the beginning steps of hand sewing, yes, even a button, so it was a bit terrifying working with a needle and thread, and then of course, nature's own- FIRE. (more on that in the directions, below.))

The final product at first:

Here are the directions on how you can make your very own:

Enough is never enough for me. I'd rather think of too much, and then be able to take away, rather than the opposite.  So, to the computer I went... Something was missing from my cute little hair piece, and I was going to find out what! Super in awe, I came across this little lady and her gorgeous oversize hair piece.

Thankfully, I had some extra tulle in my craft box, and with it, I simply cut large squares of tulle and went to town with my kitchen candle, until it came out just the way I wanted.

The final product:

Isn't she stunning?? Can't wait to share the rest of this session with you all!
Stay tuned, and have FUN diy'ing!

Miss C's Birthday Bash Mini

this was my very first Birthday Bash Mini!
kinda upset I hadn't started these a long time ago, but we all gotta start somewhere, right?

Camila is turning the big ONE in less than a month, and her party theme is "Mexican", so her mommy and i got together, brainstormed, and came up with all.of.this.cuteness.

okay okay...
most of it Cami, herself, brought to the table, but geez louise!
i've been drooling over this session since i shot it.

giddy with excitement!
i can't wait to start shooting more of this happy-go-lucky birthday goodness!

{mommy made the beautiful hair piece, sewed on some fancy fabric to imitate Mariachi wear, and added some super cute ruffles to the leg warmers.}

ps. here's a first look at the NEW 20x20 photo collage, now being offered as one of many new boutique products!  again... why didn't i offer these before? ahi. wayyy too much cuteness for one space, i'd say! dont'cha think?

Love is in the Air.

after a two month hiatus, it felt SO great to be behind the lens, again.  during that time, I only picked up my camera once to photograph a very special day for my sister and her now, hubby.  but other than that, it stayed nicely packed away in my camera bag.

until this past Saturday...

Beach Mini | Carrasco Family

Meet the Carrasco Family!  You may remember Karen from EmmaLove Boutique; she's the co-founder and mastermind behind the creative goodness.  We've worked together on a good handful of shoots, and I know that if I ever need something sassy and cute, I can run to her, because sadly I can't even sew a button. hehe

Anywho, this session was more laid back.  No posing or direction of posing.  It was just the Carrasco's, the beach, and my camera just happened to be there.  So care-free!  So loving!  So REAL.
